Pennsylvania McDonald’s Manager, Nursing Student Win $7M in Lottery Game for Their Family
A couple from Pennsylvania has recently secured $7 million in the multistate lottery game Cash4Life. Monroe County residents, Stephen Juhasz III and his spouse Shana have numerous plans for their recent fortune.
They both put in a lot of effort. Stephen is employed as a manager at a McDonald’s establishment. Shana is a nurse and goes to school.
Part of the funds will assist the couple in obtaining further education. Shana ultimately aspires to be a nurse practitioner. Other rewards will enhance their lives in various ways.
Stopped at Shop for Donuts, Ice Cream
Shana was the person who bought the winning ticket at Giant Food Stores in Northampton County for the drawing on January 3. She went to the shop to buy ice and donuts for their child. During her visit, she also collected lottery tickets.
Stephen disclosed that Shana typically purchases a Powerball and Mega Millions ticket, and occasionally she will get a random ticket.
"This time she randomly bought Cash4Life,” he explained in statement released by the state lottery office. “She chose the numbers using Quick Pick.”
The next day, she called him at work.
"I told her to scan the ticket on the PA Lottery app. As she’s reading the results to me, I said, ‘Can you read them to me again?’ As she’s reading, I screamed and ran out of work. I called my boss and told him I had to leave,” Stephen said.
Disney World Adventure Is Dream Realized
In addition to covering tuition fees, the couple aims to buy a house, save college funds for their three young kids, and plan a family vacation to Walt Disney World. (Their children are currently 10, 9, and 2 years old.)
"I’ve always dreamed of taking them to Disney,” Shana said.
“I work at McDonald’s, and I’m going to go back to school and learn something about finance,” Stephen added. He’s going to keep his restaurant job for the immediate future.
Both will also be capable of repaying student loans.
The supermarket will get $10K for selling the winning ticket.
It’s the Grand Award
Their cash prize marks the first occasion that the Pennsylvania Lottery has given a $7M top prize in the Cash4Life multistate game.
Cash4Life provides a grand prize of $1,000 daily for life, or a single lump sum of $7 million. Once federal and state taxes are deducted, the couple is expected to receive approximately $5,105,100 from the lump-sum payment.
"We are thrilled that this historic win in Pennsylvania is delivering a life-changing prize to Stephen, Shana, and their family,” Pennsylvania Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne added in the statement.
“We also want to recognize our retailer partner, Giant Food Stores, for selling this ticket. Thanks to our dedicated players and retailers, the Pennsylvania Lottery continues to generate funds for critical programs and services that benefit older Pennsylvanians all across the Commonwealth.”
In 2015, Pennsylvania became part of the game. Since that time, the Pennsylvania Lottery has granted 17 second-tier Cash4Life awards.
Every game costs $2. Participants select five digits ranging from 1 to 60, along with one number between 1 and 4, known as the green Cash Ball. Participants can select their own numbers via a play slip or opt for computer-generated Quick Pick numbers.
